The Process
Producing Pure Water with membranes is the most non-polluting way to generate drinking water or water for production purposes out of ground water, well water, municipal water and from filtrates. This can be done with different membranes and with different selectivity grades of membranes. In principal there are Reverse Osmosis membranes, Nanofiltration membranes, Ultrafiltration and Microfiltration membranes.
The Membranes
In mft equipment only high performance membranes are used, which have a high flow rate, produce an excellent water quality and have a good biological and chemical stability combined with a high salt rejection.
The Equipment
Mft designs and produces standard units as wall-, stand- and frame (skid mounted) units. Also individual designed units as well as units for special applications can be designed. Special demands sometimes require multistage units (permeate and concentrate staged).
The Function
The raw water will be pressurised by a high pressure pump and pumped through the module (module = pressure vessel and spiral wound membrane). The feed stream will be separated into two streams
- The permeate stream, free of nearly all dissolved salts and organic matters, as bacteria, germs, etc.
- The concentrate stream, containing all separated matters
By internal concentrate recirculation mft equipment can reach a high permeate recovery rates. The normal recovery rate in standard application lies between 70 and 80 %.
